Basil & Mint

The intense and delightful aromas of basil & mint infused our pizza kitchen every Friday afternoon at Bryce Canyon.

I "commuted" up the mountain to Bryce every Friday afternoon (best commute, ever).  Along the way, I stopped at Red Acre Farm CSA in Cedar City to pick up our freshest ingredients, basil & mint.   As I drove down the Red Acre Farm driveway, Sara would often be picking these herbs, just for RoadRunner Pizza.

Now that's fresh!

The basil dressed our ever-popular margherita pizzas,
the mint infused our drinking water.

Time and again our guests would comment on the wonderful flavors and I would share the story of freshly picked herbs from Red Acre Farm.

Red Acre Farm, www.redacrefarmcsa.org, is an amazing story in itself.  Sara, the founder/farmer/entrepreneur, started this enterprise as a 15-year-old. Yes, you read that right. Red Acre Farm is now a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and they grow over 177 varieties of fruits, vegetables and herbs.  Sara and Symbria, her mother, select specific varieties for their exceptional qualities of aroma, flavor, color and texture.

Wonderful food. Amazing people.
When I close my eyes, I can still smell the basil & mint.
